Why is the Barava Light so expensive?
The Barava Light is first and foremost a premium smart lighting fixture, designed for bars, pool tables, kitchen islands, living rooms, bedside tables, and desktops. It delivers beautiful, natural CREE white down-lighting—a fixture with real illumination power. Out of the box, it’s simple plug-and-play with intuitive tap-touch controls.

Are Barava Lights Reliable?
Barava Lights are engineered for long-term operation and longevity. In our lab, we have a dozen units that have been running 24/7 for nearly five years (and counting) with no Ooze break-down or other reliability issues. We cannot promise an exact maximum lifespan yet, but everything about the design is focused on longevity.
Traditional light bulb-heated lava lamps run hot and have no temperature controls. Over time, the Ooze gets overheated, oxidizes, the chemistry breaks down, and the lava action eventually fizzles out. Barava is the opposite: it runs much cooler and uses a computer-controlled heating algorithm to keep the Ooze in a narrow, ideal temperature range. That controlled environment is what keeps the motion smooth, pumping and the Ooze chemistry stable.
In order to maximize life span we:

Use a special low-temperature Ooze formula developed specifically for Barava Lights.

Run the system at a much lower, tightly controlled temperature instead of “overheating” the fluid with a light bulb.

Keeping the entire fixture running cooler, which makes the electronics and LEDs “happy.”

Custom designed the color LEDs to exponentially increase the lifespan.
The honest answer: Barava is built to run for many years, and our long-term test units support that. As more real-world runtime data comes in, we expect the numbers to look even more favorable.
Lighting Performance
Can I use Barava Lights over a pool table?
Yes. Each fixture includes a high-powered white Cree LED zone equivalent to a 100W bulb. You can use it as a bright down-light or assign it a color zone.
Safety & Installation
Will the Barava Light get dangerously hot or explode?
No. We use a low-temperature Ooze formula and a heater that physically cannot exceed safe limits. Our digital heating algorithm includes mechanical and software safeguards built-in.
What kind of safety features are built into the heating system?
The system combines mechanical limits, software triggers, and a physical fuse to maintain the ideal wax-melting temperature — never more.
How strong is the cord and mounting system?
The reinforced cord uses a proprietary crimp-style clamp that grips the bottle’s transfer bead. It’s tested to hold seven times the weight of the fixture. The ceiling mount should be installed by a qualified person and is equally rated for strength. We recommend installing a junction box, typically rated to fifty pounds. Just don’t let kids or monkeys swing from it.
